Useful Information
All jewellery will get scratches and dents no matter the type of metal; this is normal wear. In the home, jewellery is able to be cleaned with an old toothbrush and warm soapy water, but nothing substitutes a jeweller for a thorough clean and polish.
Diamond Facts
Diamonds are very durable. They are the hardest substance known, and they will not deteriorate with time and wear.
The 4 C's of Diamonds
- Cut: A diamond needs to be cut to the ideal. It is important that the shape of a diamond be in proportion. This creates fire and brilliance. Too shallow, the light is lost out of the bottom of the stone, causing the diamond to lose brilliance. Too deep, the light escapes out the sides making the diamond appear dull and dark.

- Clarity: Clarity is how clear internally and externally a stone is. Stones are categorised according to the amount of natural imperfections in the diamond.

- Colour: Diamonds are classified against a colour scale from D (colourless) to Z (yellow-brown).

- Carat: Diamonds are measured in carats. One carat is made up of 100 points.
